About the Event

If you are interested in being a part of the Summer Day Camp fun at the ONSC at Lake Fayetteville Location, and helping to create a wonderful experience for our campers as a volunteer, we would love to have you!

*Please note, a clear background check is required to become an ONSC camp volunteer/chaperone.

Our Lake Fayetteville Day Camps are for campers ages 7-14 years old, and they run from 7:30am to 6pm, Monday-Thursday.

The typical daily schedule is:

7:30-9:00 Drop off/Arrival - Maker Space Crafts, Games

9:00 Prep for Field Investigation (Water Bottles, Restrooms, Journals & Field Guides, etc.)

9:15 Field Investigation w/Nature Journaling/Sit Spot

12:00 Return, tick check/bathrooms

12:15 Lunch (packed lunches)

12:45 Free Play/Recreation (Outside unless inclement weather)

1:15 Group Games

1:45/2 Quiet Time Inside

2:30/or 3:00  Science Lesson/Activity

3:30 or 4:00  Snack, (sometimes followed by Eco-art project)

5:00-6:00 Pick-up (Camper choice of quiet or active Recreation)

Some of the times we could especially use volunteer help with are as extra adult chaperones on our morning field investigations, the drop-off and pick up times (supervising campers making things in the Eco Art/Maker Space and/or playing games), and during lunch and the outdoor games/recess activities after lunch. However, we are happy to have helpers at any time which they are available! You do not have to be able to help for the whole week of camp, nor for the full day from drop-off to pick-up.

In case you are especially interested in certain topics (and maybe you even have extra background knowledge and/or experience in one of the areas which you would like to share with our campers!), the themes for the 7 weeks of Day Camps are as follows:

June 2-5 : Life in the Water

June 9-12 : Life of the Reptiles and Amphibians

June 16-19 : Life of the Bugs

June 23-26 : Life of the Birds

June 30-July 3 : Life in the Forest

July 7-10 : Life in the Solar System

August 4-7 : Life on Lake Fayetteville

Ready to sign up to help? If you have not done so already, fill out our ONSC Volunteer Agreement Form. For those who have completed it, please enter your name, contact information, and any additional notes about the timing of your availability for any day/s of camps you are able to volunteer on this spreadsheet:

ONSC Day Camps @ Lake Fayetteville Volunteer Sign Up Sheet

Remember that you do not have to be able to help with an entire camp, nor for the entire length of the day on any particular day--just let us know the times you ARE available, and we will be happy to have your help!
