Teacher Time and Project WET, WILD, and PLT training

Day 1: Teacher Time at ONSC

Sunday, July 9, 9AM - 5PM

Come to Ozark Natural Science Center to immerse yourself in the natural sciences during an overnight residential education experience. See what it is like for 4th through 8th grade students to learn about science while they have classes along the trails, creek, and in our classroom.  You will experience the night hike, creek trails, bluff shelter and/or wishing rock while you engage in open-ended, hands-on learning and explore nature while engaging in NGSS-based lessons. Includes 6 hours of professional development.

This is an experience that students never forget. You will learn why teachers keep bringing students back, year after year.  We would love to show you what we do and why we love sharing natural science with your students!

Day 2: Project Learning Tree, Project WET, and Project WILD Workshop* 

Monday, July 10, 9AM - 4PM

Receive training on three nationally recognized environmental education programs that focus on hands-on activities connecting children to nature and increasing their awareness and knowledge about our natural world. Teachers and non-formal educators can easily integrate these activities into their classrooms and educational programs. Participants will receive three activity guides and six hours of ADE-approved professional development.

Packing Lists

Day 1: 

• Long pants or jeans (no shorts or capris) 
• T-shirts/second layer if needed
• Long socks (above the ankle) 
• 1-2 pairs of used, comfortable, close-toed shoes/boots (1 pair may get wet) 
• Water shoes (optional)
• Reusable water bottle (32 oz capacity is recommended; avoid large water bottles) 
• Rain gear (jacket or poncho) 
• Optional: money for the ONSC store

Day 2:

• Writing utensil(s)
• Notebook or paper

Overnight: 

• Sleepwear 
• Underwear 
• Sleeping bag OR twin sheets and a blanket 
• Pillow 
• Toothbrush and toothpaste 
• Soap, shampoo, deodorant, and other toiletries 
• Towel and washcloth 
• Brush or comb 
• Plastic or cloth bag for dirty clothes
