Dr. Kimberly Gray (Kim) Smith was a Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Arkansas, and served on the founding board of directors at Ozark Natural Science Center.
He served in numerous roles and oversaw and collaborated on research in many areas, resulting in over 300 professional publications. One of Dr. Smith's projects was Saw-whet owl research at Ozark Natural Science Center in conjunction with Mitchell Pruitt. Through their research on migratory patterns of these elusive, tiny owls, Dr. Smith and Mitchell Pruitt documented the owls for the first time in the Ozarks in 2014 and established a research project that continues to expand.
ONSC is grateful for Dr. Smith's legacy of research and curiosity. His view of life continues to inspire naturalists and scientists: “Be curious, be creative, challenge yourself to learn new things… and have fun doing what you do… I did.”
