From Slaw to Sauerkraut: A Hands-On Fermentation Workshop
If you can make slaw, you can make sauerkraut! Join fermentation enthusiast Molly Sharp for a lively, hands-on workshop that will introduce you to the healthy and delicious world of fermented foods.
We’ll begin with a tasting of several different ferments so you can explore the surprising variety of flavors and possibilities beyond classic sauerkraut. Molly will share an overview of fermentation methods, tips for getting started at home, and her favorite trusted resources for learning more.
Then it’s time to get fermenting! Together we’ll prepare a traditional sauerkraut with cabbage, carrots, and garlic. All equipment will be provided, including examples of the lids, weights, and tools that Molly recommends after years of experimenting with different setups.
Participants will leave with a quart of prepared vegetables ready to ferment at home, along with the equipment needed to continue making future batches.
