About the Event

ONSC is seeking volunteers to assist with outreach on Thursday, May 9th from 8:00AM-1:45PM for the Wetland Expedition Field Trips at Osage Park. Info from the organizers: 

8:00am Volunteer/Facilitator arrival   

9am-1:20pm Program  

-Students will rotate through stations lasting 30 minutes each. 

-There will be a lunch break from 11:30-11:55 for all students, educators, and volunteers.  

-Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided to all volunteers/facilitators.   

Program Topics: Wetland Ecosystem   - Wildlife   - Food Chains   - Chemical reactions   Watershed Systems (we have an Emriver Stream Table)  - Watershed Mapping   - Weather/Water Cycle   - Erosion and other geological processes   Human impacts   - Invasive Management   - Pollutants  - Conservation  Osage Park Info Page - https://www.peelcompton.org/visit-osage-park/

The premise of this large-scale field trip event is to provide 5th grade students in Northwest Arkansas the opportunity to experience Osage Park and its wetlands in a fun, hands-on way through topics such as:

  • Ecosystems
  • Watersheds and Watershed Mapping
  • Wetland Wildlife
  • Invasive Species and Management
  • Water Quality/Freshwater Pollution
  • etc!
